Lady GaGa and her Style influences
March 6, 2009
Ok so first it was Christina Aguilera and now it’s Paris Hilton? When will this doppelganger game ever end? Since the word spread of this certain Lady GaGa, tabloids were quick to compare Miss GaGa with Miss Aguilera in terms of their fashion sense- the make up, the lipstick, the blond platinum hair and the clothes. Personally, I feel Aguilera has more or a acceptable, 50s look to her clothes whereas GaGa is more techno and new age. But why on earth would anyone want to compare her with Paris Hilton- the party princess with the girly clothes and sugar and spice all over?
Most Lady GaGa fans would now that the popster studied at the Convent of the Sacred Heart School in New York but did you know that the Hilton sisters went there too? The 22 year old Lady GaGa admits that the sisters made a huge impact on her appearance. According to GaGa, she was attracted to their cleanliness- their clean and pretty disposure and still continue to influence her dressing till today.
Whether rain or shine, Lady GaGa is known for her No-Pants showdown at glitzy, glamorous and elegant events in the U.S. Recently, GaGa, who’s real name is Stefani has been spotted painting the freezing London town red in skimpy hot pants and corsets while promoting her chart busting single ‘Just Dance’.
Of Italian lineage, GaGa is the daughter of internet entrepreneur dad and business partner mom. At 17, GaGa left school to work as a burlesque dancer in an underground club scene before gaining entry into the Tisch School of Arts. Before you know, this talented performer scored big by becoming a song writer for big names like Britney Spears and the Pussycat Dolls. Two years later and the world has Lady GaGa streaming out of their iPods.
Among friends and her social circle and anyone else who come into contact with her, GaGa is known as a chatterbox a show-off who comes out with the most extraordinary phrases and quirky actions. Writing and performing her own songs, Lady GaGa is set to become the best Madonna and the world better be ready for her. GaGa, knowing that she was affiliated with Madonna, quoted as saying that the both of them have many things in common such as their American-Italian lineage, the fact that both started out in New York and in the underground scene and the became famous after going blonde.

John Mayer think Lady Ga Ga’s Song Sonically Captures a Smell
February 6, 2009
Yes, anyone can be famous, but how long did they actually took be really famous? Thanks to the exposure that she received, Lady Ga Ga managed to get her debut song to reach the number one spot in five countries in a matter of weeks.
John Mayer recently left a remark about Lady Ga Ga’s song, “Lady Ga Ga has a cool song, because it somehow sonically captures a smell.” – Just what does it mean when John Mayer say that about Lady Ga Ga’s song? What kind of smell would it be? And which song is he actually referring to?
Is he referring to her song “Just Dance” because she’s too drunk to even remember the name of the club that she’s dancing at? Perhaps it’s the smell of champagne that she has all over her body? Or is he actually referring to the music and lyrics that she is using in her songs.
She writes her own lyrics and even writes the lyrics for other singers like Britney Spears and Pussycat Dolls. Did you notice how boring most of the songs that we currently have on radios right now? Well, there’s something different with Lady Ga Ga’s music because her music has unique mixture of rock with techno and one can never feel bored listening to her song.
Let’s hope she will stay original and sing inspirational dance music like what she has now.
We’ll never know for sure what John Mayer really means when he tweet about Lady Ga Ga’s song, but the odor doesn’t really matter because I am sure she still smell very good when she’s drunk.
Do you agree with what John Mayer about Lady Ga Ga’s song? What kind of smell do you think her song is like? Please share your thoughts with us!

Lady Gaga-Style Icon of 2009
January 16, 2009
Being named a ‘Style Icon’ of 2009, and getting wild reviews from all that features her, Lady GaGa is surely one lucky star. Nothing Lady GaGa does is petite –with exceptions to her figure of course. Everything in her world is a huge production. She’s never caught without the perfect pair of humongous sunglasses, not even one strand of her platinum blonde hair is ever out of place, and her striking stage costumes are always so crisp. So much attention is paid to her image that it’s not hard to overlook her music. Lucky for GaGa, her music makes just as big a statement as her feral image. Not one to back down from taking chances, Lady GaGa’s clothing choice ranges from the most bizarre outfits to the casual ones like a pair of flashing leotard shorts in her music video “Just Dance”.
Lady Gaga's style is heavily influenced by the 80's era. But do not doubt her originality, for this is one chick that can play around with a variety of style genre –imagine ancient style clashing with futuristic wardrobe. Plus this songstress not only writes her most of her songs, but also designs most of her performance attire. With her single “Just Dance!” hitting the Number 1 spot on the Official Charts this week, Lady GaGa proves that nothing is out of reach. During the recent Puma's 60th birthday celebration at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, the fashion Lady rocked her performance in a daring outfit. Gaga keeps true to her space-age chic artistic with a prismatic prom gown. Only she can show off in something as absurd as this. It's very Gareth Pugh in Toyland. Then she gets comfortable in what appears to be sporadic bathing suit-inspired outfit for her performance with her bandit-eyed army of dancers.
And speaking of proms? In Gaga's recent video, she showcases her wild, ultramodern style in "Poker Face" with an acrylic shoulder piece bought from Academy of Art University student, Mike Feeney. Mike Feeney created this piece of attire for Academy of Art University's April 2008 Spring Show and the diva works it really well. Really, really well because it isn’t easy to walk around let alone perform in something that people only can appreciate but never wear. That’s definitely not GaGa. Not only is she unafraid to experiment, Lady GaGA shows that she is a true supporter of young budding designers waiting to embrace the fashion industry when they step out of school.
“Just dance” made top ten where ever it’s touched; number 1 in Canada and Australia. “Poker face” got number 1 in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. That's some hot stuff. Soon, everyone is going to be wearing like her, since people are already bobbing their heads to her infectious songs. And some celebrities seem to be already following the path parallel as GaGa –or rather, on her path itself! Just take a look at Christina Aguilera’s recent fashion choice and Britney Spears latest video “Womenizer” and you’ll get the picture. It's all success for her and she’s probably the best thing to come out all year and for a long time!

Lady GaGa cavorts to the top and is now #1!
January 9, 2009
Lady GaGa has come a long way from the seedy Lower East Side days when she was trying to do anything to get noticed. The dance diva busted her way to the top of the 100 odd Billboard Hot singles Thursday with ‘Just Dance.’ Running 22 weeks, this Grammy song brought her within kissing distance of the record set by Creed’s ‘With Arms wide open’ that ran for 27 weeks.
Come February 8, Joanne Stefani Germanotta, better known as Lady GaGa will brace up for the Grammy award for the most outstanding song recording. On the way she pulled down Beyonce Knowles form the coveted No.1 position. Cruising past the likes of Britney Spears and Kanye West, Lady GaGa seemed to be on an overdrive on the road to Grammy.
She works according to a well thought out plan. When she found herself doing the same thing the others were doing, she hit on the idea of some really raunchy rock ‘n’ roll. Rob Fusari was roped in with whom she had worked with to belt out earlier hits like Dirty Ice Cream and Disco Heaven. Taking a cue from rock group Queen and their song Radio Gaga, she decided to take on the name. But the Lady bit was brought in to lend a feminine touch to her shows and numbers.
And oh yeah, she whizzed past the rest in no time. It took a few demos for Akon to realize her full potential after Interscope cut a deal with her to write the songs. She was soon partnered into a Kon Live deal. It was during her work on the demo tracks for Tami Chynn, artiste for Konvick, that Akon gave the diva the break she needed and deserved to make it to the top. Akon was a conduit to top drawer producers in the business.
Moving to LA, Lady GaGa brought out her debut album, ‘The Fame’ that got released all over quickly moving up the charts in Australia and Canada. Sales touched 24000 in the first week of its release in the US in October 2008. New York Times, US magazine and Billboard magazine went gaga over Lady GaGa as the song peaked to number one on debut at Billboard top Electronic Albums chart while Poker Face too climbed up to number one in Canada and far off places like Australia and New Zealand. CD sales have already topped the charts in Canada for ‘The Fame’.
Critics may cavil about her tendency to imitate Christina Aguilera and deck up with weird things like Amy Winehouse but Lady GaGa is proving to be someone who knows how to get her fans all worked up during shows. But that’s not all about Lady GaGa as she has got rhythm releases waiting for early 2009.

Ellen says “Just Dance”
December 27, 2008
You know you’re rocking it when you appear at on the Famous not to mention Hilarious Ellen Degeneres. That’s absolutely how Lady GaGa must have felt. Fans will find themselves ‘in a rush’ as they watch Lady GaGa’s explosive performance on “The Ellen Degeneres Show”.
The rising star with her latest album “Fame”, clearly is getting there. She’s multi-talented, writes her own music, not just her own, but for many other well-known artists, designs her own costumes and has an amazing voice! She and Ellen must have gone to the same dance school since her moves are sort of like Ellen’s and you know Degeneres never fails to bust a move every now and then on her show.
“The Ellen Degeneres show”, with the lady herself as the host is a talk laces upon social topics and daily life. Ellen has a knack of scraping details out of her guests at the same time making them feel completely at home. For Lady GaGa, the Degeneres show will certainly help promote her to higher grounds as the show helps fans build their musical library. Its amazing how Lady GaGa performed with her fabulous dancing troupe.
Like Degeneres, she isn’t afraid to be herself and faces the critics boldly when questioned about the origins of her name music sound. Many critics and even pop singer Christina Aguilera claimed that they aren’t sure if she is a man or woman –another thing that she and Ellen have in common since Ellen is a out-of-the-closet lesbian.
But, let not the critics blind you from their amazing talents. For GaGa, this is the only the beginning and she’s sure to influence the world greatly. Perhaps Degeneres should look into interviewing her the next time.

And the Grammy goes to…
December 21, 2008
The 2009 GRAMMY Award nominations that were recently announced is definitely a list full of surprises, showing that they are clearly keeping up with times. For starters, “Just Dance” by Lady GaGa -which really is just a club song about getting drunk and losing things, such as your shirt-is in the running for Best Dance Song alongside other singers such as, Sam Sparro. For someone who just recently reached stardom, this will undeniably is a breakthrough into more promising achievements.
When Lady Gaga first erupted onto the pop music scene with her platinum blonde hair, bawdy cat suits and huge sunglasses, the public welcomed her with open arms. Lady GaGa, whose real name is Joanne Stefani Germanotta originally got into the music business by performing in nightclubs on the pavilions of New York City and was discovered when she was nineteen years old. And now Lady GaGa’s music is taking over the world by storm!
Many musical acts in these modern times find it hard to ‘crack’ the US charts, but Lady GaGa proves even home-grown musicians take a while to break. For an Italian-American, electro-pop sensation she is doing quite well herself; her single that is being nominated for the Grammy finally reached the Billboard Top 10, peaking this week at a 7.
In the bigger picture, “Just Dance” has a good beat, addicting hook and support vocals from Akon , the successful singer/producer. Internationally, it’s a hit, so nobody can really argue with that. Lady GaGa is also notable for her singles “Poker Face” and “Beautiful Dirty Rich.” One thing that is undeniable about Lady GaGa’s music is she totally gets it. She is the whole deal. She completely understands what she has to do and she’s willing to invest her time and her energy into doing it. “Poker Face” for an example is a clever deference to putting up a mask while in love. Knowing what she wants and how to perform surely pays off now as she anxious sits in her 51st Grammy Nomination chamber.
Still the competition seems to be very steep this time around. Long-serving French electro robots Daft Punk have been given a run in the best dance recording as well. Ironically for them, it’s a mere 7 years after the song was initially released. Then we have the reigning Queen of Pop, Madonna as well in the nomination poll with her song “Give it to me”. Lady Gaga is definitely facing some tough competition.
Also a well-known songwriter, Lady GaGa has written for Britney Spears’ latest album and Interscope label-mates, Pussycat Dolls. With a Grammy nomination under her belt, there is seemingly a dazzling future ahead of her. We just have to wait and see.

Lady Gaga-Fame or Lame?
December 13, 2008
If you are already a Diva at working the clubs hard with brilliant music vibes and a maestro in theatrical performances, what more could you possibly crave for? For Joanne Stefani Germanotta a.k.a Lady GaGa, it seems obvious that it is fame. Lady GaGa obviously possesses innate musical talent –having written up a storm of potential fiery hits for her debut album, which includes her hit single “Just Dance”. Perhaps the Italian-American artist had enough of living in the shadows of big artistes such as New Kids on The Block and Pussycat Dolls, penning down tunes for these bright stars and was realize its about time for something bigger.
Yet the young woman who titled her self album “The Fame” is not in the business for art’s sake. She wants to be fabulous and famous no doubt and is well on her way to achieving that goal. “That is the Fame” she says to a paparazzi pack that trailed her during one of her tours. “It is about art and fashion and the rumors about who I am and who Lady GaGa is”. And she makes no apologies for playing the fame game (connected to Jimmy Lovine from Interscope and the multi-talented Akon) which will certainly give her a stairway to fame haven. “I know when I signed the label my job is to write a pop song and play the game” she says. Hmm…sounds familiar doesn’t it? Brings back memories of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears in waist-bearing but innocent t-shirts singing innocent pop songs demanded by their record labels. And what happened when they hit the fame-pot? Gone was the sweet innocence of pop teen princesses and in their places, Goth-like, black hair with ‘Dirty’ attitudes.
How long until GaGa’s platinum blond look is taken over by a black wave? Hopefully she stays with her originality and her own unique sound. Today’s music world is no joke and definitely not a static one. It is forever changing and the face of music is also forever changing. One thing’s for sure that is, there are many marriages between music genres and Lady GaGa seems to sense this vibe as her music is rich which a variety of genre –electro-pop, rock to name some. On the effort of this album -which has been released in the U.S. since October 19, she embraced pop culture and invited her fans to an electro-techno rollercoaster ride of music.
“The Fame' is about how anyone can feel famous," GaGa spoke about her debut record. Pop culture is art and it doesn't make one cool to hate pop culture, so what she has done is actually embrace it and cross it with other sound styles. Fame or lame, this one is smart and definitely to stay.
